That really doesn't in anyway say hes demanding elite money. But he is one of the best LT's in the game currently. What did he allow last year? 1 sack? and paved the way for Jamaal Charles.

He was ranked as the #5 LT in football for 2012, the Chiefs OL as a whole was ranked #7.

Scratch that, he was the #5 OT the previous year... this year he...

Branden Albert, OT, Kansas City Chiefs

Not commonly mentioned as one of the best offensive tackles in the game, Branden Albert has emerged in his contract year as a dominant player. Albert has a total grade of +17.6 (with a pass block grade of +17.0) on the year and has been a bright spot for the struggling Chiefs. He is second in the entire league among offensive tackles in Pass Blocking Efficiency, allowing only eight total pressures in 279 pass block snaps. Included in those eight pressures is just one sack and that came on opening day, which is even more impressive considering the state of flux that is the Chiefs’ offense.

Let's see what the Dr's say about his lingering back issues be fore we write that check. If he is good to go then I say we sign him. However his stating that he will not move to guard shows that he wants LT money and that is more important to him than playing where the team needs him to play. So he says he wants to stay in KC but only if he gets paid and only if he stays at LT.

Sure he is! Would you want to sign a contract to a position you haven't played in 5 years that will pay you half? I damn sure wouldn't! Albert is a damn good LT. There is no reason for him to move to G now that we have 2 quality OG starters on this O line. I can see where Albert would be a little bit pissed on this discussion. If you move him to LT then your telling him that he don't have the ability to play LT at a high level. I'm sorry but he does have the ability! If he checks out then sign him.

Saying hes a LT is because he IS a LT. The only people who say he isn't are complete morons. How can you even try to say hes selfish when he has been one of the top ten LT's in the NFL most of his career.

The one and only reason he didn't start at LT in college is because D'Brickashaw Ferguson was already there starting at LT. He didn't slide over after Ferguson left for the NFL because if you know anything about OL, its all about chemistry... and if you keep moving guys around it makes the OL worse. If #8 pick Eugene Monroe wasn't there, he more than likely would have slid over to LT, but they didn't have to. They had a third great LT and did what was best for the team.

Letting Albert walk and using the top pick on a LT in no way shape or form improves this fucking team. Albert isnt good enough to demand elite money. He's vastly underrated, but still not elite. Drafting a guy like Fisher or Joeckel, who has potential to be elite, will demand more money and we still wont have a fucking QB.

Logic.

Chiefs were overheard saying they were solving their LT problem in free agency. I'm assuming that means they are signing Albert, and not drafting a LT.

Who all has it happened too? Carr and?

In terms of keeping good young talent, the Chiefs have been as good as anyone if not the best lately.

I did also notice the tweet saying the Chiefs were planning on free agency for a LT, and not the draft. I didn't have a chance to read it because I was at work at the time, but I'd assume Albert is the free agent they are planning on signing.

Let me first say that I in no way condone drafting a LT #1. Albert is great player and by all accounts great teammate. From a production view there is very little, if any, improvement we would see on the line. He would however be quite a bit cheaper than Albert for at least the first few years due to new the rookie salary system.

Then you cross this bridge again in a few years and what? Let him go too and draft another LT? That's not how you build a team. This guy is far from a guarantee of even being better than l
Albert.

I'll say it, I don't think Joke will be a better LT than Albert. Albert is one of the top guys, and hes still getting better.

I can see letting Tony go as we were rebuilding and they got something for him. Those other 3 have always irked my ass though especially Gannon! We haven't really had a bookend tackle like Tait until Winston.

I'm fine w/ keeping Albert as long as his back issues are no longer an issue. Can't see paying Albert a big contract to miss a bunch of games w/ a lingering back injury, and cut him laterdue to said injury at a big cost to the team financially. If you are not sure about the status of his back I say franchise hime and see how he does for a year before you open the checkbook.

I think Eric Fisher is a better prospect in this draft than Joeckel honestly. Fisher is an absolute beast.

We arent going to break the bank for Albert. This all shouldnt be an issue.
