First topic message reminder :

Read this morning we have an 86% chance of having the first overall pick for the first time in franchise history. Odds are Geno is the pick.

Seriously. The day ESPN heard Andy Reid was hired, one of their topics was, "Can Reid Fix Cassel?"..I was just like Jesus Christ are you kidding me right now?

Ive also seen tweets from people named like "NFLScouts" or shit like that..one of those guys were saying Cassel would be a good fit in Reid system. No damn way. Reid likes to pass the damn ball..and whats the one thing Cassel really cant do? Pass the damn ball.

KC has been mocked to draft a LT every year for a long time... even after we drafted Albert in the first round.

Reid and Dorsey both know the importance of a QB, we are drafting one #1.

[quote="Touchdown Bowe"]One thing I keep reading thats been pissing me off is people saying Geno isnt a number 1 pick..yet they have him going to either the Raiders or Philly..or another top 10 team.

If a QB is good enough to be top 10, he's good enough to be number 1. [/quote

I agree!

Senior Bowl is this weekend. Expecting Tyler Wilson to make a huge leap into the top 15..possibly 10.

People bashing Tyler Wilson for having small hands.

Yeah because those small hands have kept him from making throws his whole life.

Warming up to Wilson a bit. Watched some games not bad. Have seen him compared to Jim Kelly and Brett Fare. Want to see more of this kid.

Geno and Wilson are still my top two. Prefer Geno, wouldn't be mad about Wilson.

Mine to. I'm a little bit disappointed that Geno didn't go to the Senior Bowl. I would've liked to have seen him stand up and say, I'm the best QB in this class and I'm here to prove it. I know he is being advised by his agent but it would've been nice to see Geno show a little pride.

Mayock really didnt like the fact that Geno skipped the senior bowl. I really dont either. Scouts are already talking big on Tyler Wilson now so Geno just hurt his stock and value alot.

Its pretty common for the top QB to not do anything besides at his own Pro Day. They don't want to risk making a mistake with guys they aren't familiar with.

I mean this year though all people have talked about is how theres no top QB in this draft. I mean in his situation though I think he should have gone to the senior bowl. I dont see how he could have hurt his stock really. Everybody else there this year was awful. Wilson did well in the drills but not the game. If Geno could have put up even a decent performance he would have put himself ahead of the game.

by Bill Williamson

Here is my second AFC West mock draft for the teams' first-round picks. We will periodically update as we move closer to the April draft:

1. Kansas City Chiefs: DL, Star Lotulelei, Utah: He could excel as a 3-4 defensive end. This is a tough spot for the Chiefs. There are no great positional fits, particularly since no quarterbacks have yet shown they are worthy of being the top pick. There has been a lot of chatter that Texas A&M offensive lineman Luke Joeckel could be the Chiefs’ choice. But the Chiefs want to re-sign left tackle Branden Albert. I expect them to give Albert an offer early next month. If Albert leaves in free agency, Joeckel then becomes the likely pick. If that is the scenario, the Chiefs better use the money that would have went to Albert on a premium free agent. A simple Albert-Joeckel swap would not be the greatest use of the top choice.

Previous pick: Lotulelei

3. Oakland Raiders: DE, Damontre Moore, Texas A&M: The Raiders are in a position of strength. They need defensive help across the board. The draft is defensive-heavy at the top. While the choices are plentiful, Moore’s high ceiling makes him the choice right now.

Previous pick: Moore

11. San Diego Chargers: OT, Lane Johnson, Oklahoma: Johnson had a great week at the Senior Bowl. If he continues to have a good draft season, he will be very worthy of the No. 11 pick. Left tackle is the Chargers’ greatest need. There isn’t a ton of top level left tackle talent this year. Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher also had a great week at the Senior Bowl, but he may be off the board when the Chargers pick. Johnson could be a fine consolation prize.

Previous pick: CB, Dee Milliner, Alabama

28. Denver Broncos: CB, Xavier Rhodes, Florida State: Denver will likely take the best available player. If Rhodes is on the board, he may fit that description. He is a solid talent and the Broncos can use more youth at this position.

Previous pick: DT, Kawann Short, Purdue.

Kansas City Chiefs: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Scott Pioli was fired, as the awesome @saveourchiefs movement was pushing for, and he's been replaced by Andy Reid and his staff. The question is whether Reid will take a shot on a quarterback or go the safe route with Luke Joeckel.

Chris Mortensen said Monday that he expects Joeckel to be the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but has a feeling that Reid will select a quarterback - which means he expects him to trade down. I agree with Mort. I'm not sure about the moving down part - Kansas City will sure as hell try - but here's why Geno Smith will be the pick, barring any big acquisition in free agency:

1. New regimes mean new quarterbacks, and if history is any indication, Reid will use this pick on Smith. Reid eschewed all the top free-agent quarterbacks when he took over as the Eagles' head coach, taking a mobile, Big East product with a good deep ball and upside instead. Well, Smith is a mobile, (former) Big East product with a good deep ball and upside. He fits perfectly into Reid's offense.

2. ESPN and other outlets will tell you that Smith nor any other signal-caller is worth taking No. 1 overall, but that could easily change. Remember two years ago when ESPN was mocking Da'Quan Bowers and Nick Fairley to the Panthers? Well, Cam Newton ballooned to the top, as will some other quarterback this year. It could be Smith, Matt Barkley or Mike Glennon. We'll see. Three months is a long time.

3. Think no one believes Smith is worth the No. 1 pick? Think again. Anthony Gargano of 94 WIP in Philadelphia revealed that he spoke to a general manager who told him that he would draft Smith with the first-overall selection. This is just one general manager, but if one GM wants Smith that badly, then there's a chance that several do. Smith has a ton of upside, so a quarterback-friendly coach like Reid might think he could coach him up to a Pro Bowl level.

4. My Chiefs' source, who has a high success rate of delivering Kansas City's first-round picks, told me Smith is currently the favorite to go No. 1 overall, but conceded that it's still too early in the process. He said that the combination of Joeckel and Tyler Wilson is also a strong possibility.

I agree that Smith is a good comparison to McNabb! It makes complete sense for Reid.

Geno makes the most sense, especially if/when Albert is locked up. I think when hes resigned we will see more Geno mocks...

Reid just wants Geno because he's black. McNabb and Vick. Now Geno. Its obvious guys. He's our guy.

I hopw they are right about Geno though if they take him. The dude has a great arm and is a dedicated football player. Maybe that will translate. Hopefully.

I follow Geno on twitter. About a month ago or so he would retweet every person that critisized him on twitter and would tweet about proving everybody wrong. He's got that drive to be a great player which bodes well for both Geno and KC.

Thats what it takes in the NFL. You have to have some talent, but the effort and constant work is what puts you over the top. Its the little things that separate you.

If anybody is gonna get the best out of Geno, its gonna be Reid. If Reid knows he can tap into Genos full potential, he's gotta be one excited guy right now.
