First topic message reminder :

Read this morning we have an 86% chance of having the first overall pick for the first time in franchise history. Odds are Geno is the pick.

I actually go to the same school as David Bass.. The mock 6th round pick. I have watched this guy take over many games in the last couple years. This guy is a freak athlete. He is around 265-270 lbs. and runs a 4.6 40. With the right coaching I think this guy could be a serious rotation player and make some impact.

sounds like a decent potential pick in the 6th then.

If that's what Albert is really asking and won't budge. Then we are definitely looking LT at #1

I mean dont get me wrong I want Albert resigned badly..but 10 mil is ridiculous for a guy like him. 6-8 is a reasonable amount. 10+ is for elite tackles..and Albert isnt exactly elite. Very solid nonetheless..but he's no Joe Thomas type guy.

Warmack is reguarded as the best player in the draft. Also is being compared to Will Shields.

Will Shields came in the 3rd round though! I love Offensive line but a OG at number 1 is a bit ridiculous even by my standards. I really like the OGs we have. I know Warmack is an upgrade but will he make the impact that a number 1 pick should? I don't think he will.

I don't think it was a comparison of what he was in college. I mean its just like Tom Brady and so on.

Its just a different time now. Especially given our unfortunate circumstance, drafting an OG isn't insane. Unless Geno blows us away at the Combine/Pro Day... I could see it being Warmack if not Star. Assuming Albert is resigned, LT doesn't make any sense at all. A pass rusher is possible, but not needed. He wouldn't beat out Hali or Houston, but it would be a luxury to have a third pass rusher to rotate in and a guy in the wings post Hali... really shouldn't have to worry about that.

No a OG hasn't been drafted #1 before, but we don't really need the other top players... and actually there might not be any top players. If hes actually the only elite player, you have to think about it no matter how awful it sounds. Plus theres a rookie pay scale now so we aren't paying an OG elite money, and the league is evolving into a pass dominate league where all DL are becoming better at rushing the passer. Positions like OG and Safety are becoming more important than they used to be.

Just looking at the possibilities... I'm still hoping to land Geno or Wilson... and would probably prefer Star next... but if its OL like so many people are projecting, this would likely be the one exception where you should take the OG over the LT.

Jake Long is also a free agent, but he has worse injury problems. But we also were only able to get Roaf because the Saints thought he wouldn't be good after injury.

Willie Roaf was an aging player at the time though. The Chiefs knew they were only getting him for a few years..I think 4 or 5 seasons but anyways..Jake Long is a young guy who his first 2 years was dominate..but since has declining with and without injury. He's gonna be asking a ridiculous amount too. He's really a gamble. You dont play players that are gambles 10+ mil a year like he's gonna be wanting.

Scott Pioli's mock top ten-

He says the Chiefs have to draft the best player available, but also at a position of need... which I completely agree with.

1. Joeckel
2. Milliner
3. Floyd
4. Warmack
5. Moore
6. Werner
7. Fisher
8. Jones
9. Patterson
10. Vaccaro

Now, his reasoning is he thinks we tag Bowe, and don't get Albert resigned. So say we DO also resign Albert... is Milliner that good? I'm surprised he would have a CB go #2... most of his top ten are lineman. Also something that sticks now, no Star in the top ten? Isn't he reguarded by some as the best player?

This is why his dumbass isnt working for the Chiefs anymore. He also said a QB wont be selected in the top 20. He's an idiot.

Letting Albert walk and drafting Joekel would be a wasted pick...Stupid analogy on Pioli's part, IMO..

Chiefs | Interested in Luke Joeckel
Sun, 24 Feb 2013 11:05:25 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs are believed to be high on Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel and could consider taking him with their first-round pick. The team may tip their hand in terms of their first pick if they allow impending free-agent OT Branden Albert to leave in free agency.

I dont really care either way what they decide to do with him. If they sign him great if not oh well. I think theres a good chance they go oline even if they sign him. the new rookie scale puts almost all positions in play outside of kicker since you arent giving out 60 million bucks. wont know much though til FA begins.

There is no reason to take a LT that's not going to be an upgrade over Albert unless it's a cap problem. We have Winston signed long term and both of our young guards have shown a lot of promise. I don't see a reason to burn a number 1 pick on O line as we can take depth in the mid rounds. Warmack appears to be one hell of a player, but i still don't see them using a number 1 pick on a G. If he turns out like Nicks then you have to find 60 million to pay him in 4 years. The one position we don't shit at is QB. I'm still on the Geno bandwagon. I can't wait to see what he looks like when he throws at the Combine. I can't believe Geno ran a 4.5 today! I didn't think he had those kind of wheels. If he throws well I think Reid will take him. Reid was happy with Vick, and I think Geno is a far better prospect coming out than Vick ever thought about being.

Vick and Geno arent even similar QBs so bad comparison. Kliff Klingsbury put up similar stats to Geno with same OC teaching so I dont buy it.

Geno has played in 3 offensive systems. Successful in all 3. GTFO.

I know there not the same QB's. Geno is a superior passer to Vick. I don't know what kind of offense Vick ran in school but due to the fact that he averaged 1500 yards throwing, 165 attempts, and 54 to 57 completion %; I would assume that he came from a run first offense. Vick has never been an accurate QB yet Reid went with him. What I was saying is if Geno shows up and has a great workout that I think Reid will take him because he has the accuracy and the speed to go with it. From a pure passer standpoint there isn't an accurate comparison between Vick and Geno. Geno and RG3 came from a similar system and RG3 turned out alright. It can go either way! Geno didn't go down the field as much RG3, but I have seen some deep balls thrown in double coverage from Geno that couldn't be placed any better.

Geno threw for 2,763 yards 24 TD's 7 INT's 64.8% as a Sophomore in a Pro Style offense. Hes not just a spread guy.

Hopefully the Joeckel rumors today are just ploys to gain a little leverage with Albert. He wants to be in KC.
