I work part time at Bass Pro selling guns and guess who came strolling in today? Dick Vermeil. He was in town today with Carl Peterson and Trent Green out at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He was inducted as a Missouri Legend and Trent was inducted as well. He wasn't overly talkative but I did manage to talk to him for a couple minutes and show him a pair of $3000 dollar Swarovski binoculars. I told him he was missed as the Chiefs coach. He said he missed being there and that he wished he wasn't so old. Pretty cool stuff! It was amazing how many people know his face. He had people saying hello about everywhere he turned.

Its too bad we couldn't have had him for longer than we did. We need to find a good coach again soon.

Vermeil gave us the most exciting Chiefs teams ever but he didnt give a shit about defense. That might actually be okay in todays NFL though. Chiefs problem is they have no defense, no, offense, and no special teams. They have no coaching staff or GM either. Outside of those few things they are great though.

I always liked Vermeil. Even when he was with the Rams. I was kinda blindsided when he up and retired. That's what he did his entire career was coach about 5 years and then retire. I was pretty stoked about getting to see him, because I had just watched the Blindside the night before. I got to admit I was a bit star struck!

It's not that he didn't give a shit about the Defense. He took a shot on Sims and struck out. That set the D back a ton. Then he was a big fan of vets and free agency dollars. He neglected the draft during his time here. He definitely knew football.

Should have been twice, but 10-6 didn't make the playoffs. We also had the top offense most of his tenure here... we just also had the worst defense.
