Chiefs owner Clark Hunt defends his fanbase

Posted by Darin Gantt on October 10, 2012, 5:03 PM EDT

AP
Chiefs right tackle Eric Winston had his say about Chiefs fans Sunday, and stood by it Monday.

The guy who signs Winston’s checks weighed in today, defending the bulk of his customers.

While Winston raged about the cheers he heard when quarterback Matt Cassel went down with a concussion, Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said those cheers came from a small few.

Hunt issued a statement, via the team’s official website, which said:

“Over the last few days, there has been a lot of talk about our fans, and I feel like it’s important to set the record straight.

“I know our fans. They are passionate, hardworking, loyal, educated football fans, and they are the heart and soul of the Arrowhead experience. They know cheering an injury to anyone in any stadium is unacceptable.

“I want to make it perfectly clear:

“A small few who may have cheered when Matt went down do not accurately represent the best fans in the National Football League. Period.”

As Winston said when he acknowledged it wasn’t 70,000, it doesn’t matter if it was 7,000 or 700. One is too many.

But he was in position to hit them.

Russell couldn't have hit your ass with a football at 10 yards.

but if he barely missed his guy it makes him great with your logic. Poe just barely misses sacks and he is great.

What a dick! I'm just pointing out that Poe has already brought pressure which indicates he's doing his job. Anytime a rookie can get pressure at the NT position they are generally in for good things down the road. He's also handling double teams well for a rookie.

OK. since even the guys caling the games on TV have pointed out that our line that has 3 top 11 picks on it is very much underperforming who sucks? Is it Jackson who I have said is a joke? Is it Dorsey who is playing out of position? Is it our NT with all the athletic ability in the world but has never played up to it? The play on the line has not been good whether you want to admit it or not. There are many more problems on this team than QB. I dont like the coaching staff but it is the players that are ultimately out there looking lost.

Dorsey needs to go. He are getting more production from Ropati and Bailey. Jackson can be judged but Poe is just getting started. I like what I see from him so far.

The entire team sucks, they just aren't trying anymore. Its not just the DL. The DL is in better shape this year than it was last year, and its playing worse. Just like Hali, DJ, Flowers, and Berry don't look any good.

I dont think the players care for Pioli either. Neither Carr or Bowe got paid and they are 20+ mill under cap. Not very many people in Chiefs nation trust Pioli anymore but Clark Hunt is an out of touch owner that cant see it.

When these players see guys like Bowe and Carr putting up great seasons and not getting paid, its probably really unmotivating to the rest of the team. This front office needs to act like it gives a damn about winning cause the players dont believe anymore.
