Poe is more high risk high reward than Baldwin was.

How is that. Any player drafted in the 6th round is not high risk. Poe is more low risk high reward.

He would be successful as a DE in our defense. But he might not be the best option at NT.

A guy like that would be interesting at DE. Maybe a replacement for Dorsey perhaps? My only concern about Poe is that as he ages that speed is gonna go bye-bye. So any team drafting based on athletic ability is buying a limited time frame. A guy with this frame is more likely to put on weight especially once he gets paid. Its NT or bust with Poe.

For a fat guy, he definitely carries the weight much better than people like Terrance Cody or Andre Smith do. I'm afraid he could balloon up too, but the reason he intrigues me so much is because it is said that he can play all across the D-line in the 3-4. So at worst, he could just be a fat slob, but still replace Dorsey or Jackson as simply a run stuffer.

I'm not wanting the Chiefs to draft him, but I would sure be excited to see him on the field for the first time.

Can anyone find a list of how much cap space teams are using in 2012? Since cap space could be carried over this year, it's hard to gauge where a team sits in spending when everyone's salary cap is different. It'll be interesting to see where the 'cheap' Chiefs stand right now.

I heard 140 million next year, but I don't know whether that's right or not.

Yeah I heard the same. But also heard it could raise. So we probably won't know for sure until next year.

I'm not asking about what the projected cap is in future years, I'm asking about individual team caps this year. If the cap is $120 million in 2012, and the Chiefs carried over around $20 million, their cap this year is $140 million. So to say the Chiefs still have $17 million in cap space, they are actually using $123 million (which means they are spending OVER the current cap limit, even though they could have gone cheap without the cap floor kicking in again until next year). Everyone's cap number who carried over their extra space from last year will now all be different. I'm just curious where the Chiefs stand in total cap spending right now.

Every place I have seen is KC does in fact have 17 million left for this year. that puts them in either 6th or 7th best shape. I usually complain about them being cheap but I hope they wait til after the draft to bring in any more FA. They have had a very good offseason so far and now have a roster to where they can go after BPA without worrying about need. They do still have 2 very weak spots at QB and NT but can still fill NT with another stopgap if they still think Powe is gonna be good. They wont do anything about QB because Pioli still thinks Cassel is a hall of famer. So that gives them lots of options in the draft. For the first time in years I like where KC is in the sports world. Both major sports teams as a matter of fact. KC might win divisions in both.

Good to hear! I'm excited about this year. They really have had a great couple of years with personnel and the Draft is yet to come.

Mon, 02 Apr 2012 11:05:29 -0700

The NFL management council has advised teams that the salary cap will not increase much over the next few seasons. The cap in 2013 may only go up $300,000 and the 2014 salary cap may be a little over $121 million.

So we have 17 million plus D Bowe's franchise tag to play with for next year.

But that will change with restructured deals and cut players too. Cassel wont get to carry the 17 mil cap hit next year. and I'm sure T. Jacksons cap hit for next year is showing bigger than it will be.

This is what I've been looking for! The Chiefs have used the 4th most cap space this year, yet still are a top 10 team in terms of cap space! That's one hell of a position to be in!

KC is in great shape to be good this year even with a horrible starting QB. and when they drop those big cap hits after this year they can afford to get a real QB and still retain whoever they want. If we were a little deeper on the lines I'd say screw it and give up the picks and take a chance on Tannehill. I love the position we are currently in but I also say until Cassel is gone we have zero chance at the SB. But I guess small steps and shoot for a playoff victory first. Hopefully its as a division winner so it will be at Arrowhead

The Chiefs team overall is loaded. We could end up being one of the lucky teams that can win a SB with a crappy QB. Cassel just has to play smart, manage to move the sticks, and not turn the ball over and this running game and defense can carry him the rest of the way.

But I'm still hoping Quin or Stanzi can emerge as a better option at QB.

I am starting to see the logic behind Stanzi as a good QB. If he sits back long enough and gets comfortable he is accurate enough and smart enough to really be a decent QB.

Travis Daniels Returns To The Kansas City Chiefs

by Joel Thorman on Apr 4, 2012 9:58 AM CDT in 2012 KC Chiefs Free Agency

On the day the 2012 NFL free agency period started, CB Travis Daniels wrote on his Twitter page: "#ChiefsNation Lets Make It Happen, You Know Where I Want To Be. Lets Get It".

Three weeks later, and it's done. Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com reports that the Chiefs have re-signed Daniels, who was a free agent, to a new contract.

No word on the length of the deal or the money involved.

Daniels was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft and spent four years in Miami before moving onto the Cleveland Browns under then-head coach Romeo Crennel. He spent one season in Cleveland before joining the Chiefs, where he has played for the last there seasons.

Daniels has appeared in all 16 games in each of the last two seasons as a backup at the cornerback position.

Cassel doesnt have the best D in the history of the game on the other side like Dilfer did.

No but Cassel may not be the best OB ever. But he is better than Dilfer and has more weapons also.

If our DL and OL are allot better next season we will run away with the AFC West and make a serious run and make little bitch boy Manning wish he didnt snub us.
