PostSubject: 2011 Draft   Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:45 pm

Named All Rookie Team and canidate for Defensive rookie of the year.

"Phillip Taylor is the best defensive tackle I have seen since Casey Hampton of the Pittsburgh Steelers came out of Texas in 2001. They were drafted in very similar spots too. Taylor was drafted 21st overall by the Cleveland Browns and Hampton was taken 19th overall by the Steelers.

Despite being 6'3", 335 pounds, this man can move! He gets after the quarterback with the reckless abandon of Adam Sandler as Bobby Boucher in "The Waterboy". Taylor is a one-man wrecking crew, nearly impossible to block with a single lineman.

So far this season, Taylor has 31 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and one pass deflection.

I expect him to be a staple of the Browns defense for a very long time. As the Browns continue to add youth both offensively and defensively, there is no reason this team shouldn't start to compete for a playoff spot in the next couple of seasons."

I know we got the best end of the trade with getting Baldwin and Houston. But damn man, we let an excellent NT walk to another team. Taylor wound up with 59 tackles, 37 solo, 22 assists, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble. I know the Browns went to a 4-3 but Taylor played a 1 tech forcing O lines to double him. He showed ability to rush the passer and would have been a monsterous upgrade in our Defense taking it to the next level.

I was right up until the draft and thought they might go with Carimi.

We need to get a dominant NT. Did anyone see Vince Wilfork in that game last weekend?? He single handedly DOMINATED that game and disrupted almost every single play, getting pressure up the middle. a great NT would take us to the next level! We could in a few years have a Baltimore/Pittsburgh type of defense.

I agree Wilfork was a beast in that game. And that is our biggest weakness in our D. Definately need to be addressed. But I think we have to go OL first this year.

Yes it was amazing to see! Them guys know how to turn it on when it counts. Thats something that I wish we had here and think we are starting to develop on the D side of the ball. We just need a few more pieces to get top 5. We finished 12th in defense if i remember correctly, 6th in passing Defense without Berry.

With Berry back, and a better NT as long as we keep Carr we could be dominate on defense next season. If we get an upgrade at ILB beside DJ even better!

I wonder what the Browns do with Rubin now, he would be a big upgrade at NT. I still hope we can develop Powe though, the talent and ability is there... granted it also there for our RT Richardson.

If they are willing to part with Rubin that would be great. He has developed nicely as a NT. I dont know if he is dominate but he could hold down the fort for someone who could be.
