Great RT pickup. I'd move asamoah to LG and Richardson to RG! He can still be the backup tackle.

Gaither at RT. Alberts just isn't a swing tackle and I don't think he can play the right side. I doubt he would be making the move to guard right now. Maybe next year.

So all in all this has been a great offseason outside of the 1 player I would like to have had. I dont feel like we upgraded at NT but didnt really downgrade either. WR should be solid now. If Gaither is healthy Richardson becomes a valuable rotational guy when needed.
The best LB in football has been extended here. As much as I like to piss you guys off I will admit this is turning out to be a good offseason. Dont get me wrong we arent SB contenders this year, but it has been a good offseason.

Holy shit. If hes healthy this is a huge signing... he failed his physical with the Raiders when they tried signing him at the start though.. We now have three OT's who can play either spot.
Thought I heard on the radio his agent is denying failing any physical in Oakland and he never took it.

I'm gonna say it. Call me a homer all you want, but the Chiefs WILL have a top five Offense and top ten Defense. The wont beat everyone, and will lose some stupid games.. but they CAN beat anyone next year.

According to Jason Cole, the chiefs were
$750,000 away from re-signing Shaun Smith. They were offering $2.5MM and
he signed with Tennessee for $3.25MM.

You're a homer. Top 5 offense is steep. I don't see us getting into too many shootouts.

They are definately going to compete. I can see us winning the division again. And going deeper into the post season. Man they have so much talent and potential this year. I am
definately pumped and ready to go.

As crazy as this sounds..I seriously agree with this. If Gaither pans out..Our OL is solidified for probably another 5 years at least. This is gonna be one of the most explosive offenses in the league now with Bowe, Baldwin, Moeaki, McCluster, Charles, McClain, and Breaston. How are other teams gonna stop every one of these guys? Seriously. And our defense is gonna be just as good. With a year of Crennel under most of these guys' belts..and acquiring Gregg Kelly from one of the best defenses in the league. Someone who can surely teach Dorsey, Jackson, Gilberry, and Bailey something. We drafted Houston who had first round talent to play probably our weakest position from last season as our weak side OLB.

There really isnt any reason the Chiefs dont make the playoffs. I honestly feel like were ahead of the Chargers at this point. We are capable of beating every team on this schedule. Its just gonna come down to injuries and how ready we are for the big competition this year. No reason we shouldnt be hoping for a super bowl run this year and for years to come.

Name 5 other teams that have players more talented than Bowe, Baldwin, Moeaki, McCluster, Charles, Breaston, and McClain. If Cassel plays aggressive, smart ball..He'll have a career year and a playoff birth for us.

I agree. That is a whole lot of talent. No arguments about Bowe and Charles. Moeaki should improve, Baldwin is a rookie showing promise, but Breaston may or may not have two functional knees and McCluster and McClain really don't have identities yet.

On pure talent, I would give a definite edge to Eagles and Packers. The Falcons, Cowboys, Texans, Chargers and Giants would all be fairly comparable to the Chiefs. Then I would say that Saints, Colts and Patriots all have some pretty explosive offenses.

We were 12th in the NFL in total offense last year. 490 yards from the 5th spot. As long as the Chiefs are a running team, and the defense plays tough, the fewer yards our offense will have to put up. And don't forget the Weeks 11-15 stretch against some of the best defenses in the league. I doubt any of those games turn into offensive shootouts.

Gaither is a beast...Both of our "bookends" can play at either end of the line...Which one, where? Who knows, but I am going to go out on a limb and say Gaither LT and Albert plays RT with Lilja RG, Asamoah LG and Wiegmann at C..Liking this front line..

Lilja moved to the left side and I dont think they will switch sides this close to season.. Gaither played RT last season and Albert has always played LT.

Gaither will get his first look at left tackle

The Chiefs won't practice until later this afternoon and coach Todd Haley said when they do, the recently signed Jared Gaither will be working as a left tackle.

Gaither can eventually be moved to right tackle if the Chiefs see the need. But at least to start, he'll be on the left side.

Interesting move but not unexpected. In his two seasons as Baltimore's starting left tackle, Gaither was better than Branden Albert has been during his time as the Chiefs' starter at that position.

If Gaither works out the way the Chiefs hope, Albert should probably prepare to make the move over to the other side of the line himself.

Meantime, the Chiefs need to get Gaither into playing shape.

''This is a guy that's been out, hasn't been part of an off-season program, like everybody else,'' Haley said. ''He also missed a couple of weeks so even thought I believe he’s been working on his own, the number one deal for him is going to be the strength and conditioning aspect. He got a couple of good workouts over the weekend and we’re going to continue that.''

''First and foremost is trying to get him into a baseline physical condition that we feel like gives him a chance to succeed.''

That answers that! Gaither will be a backup LT for the time being. I heard Gaither is out of shape and its going to be awhile because we wasn't able to work out all offseason. When hes in shape i'm suspecting that Albert goes to RT. Gaither has been a better LT.

If Gaither gets healthy, Albert will be at RT..and I could be wrong, but Albert was a guard coming out of Virginia..

You could be right with Lilja...Not gonna argue that.

Yes, Albert was a guard in college. But he has made great strides since coming to the NFL. He is already an above average player at arguably the most important position in the NFL. He has all the tools. and I think all of us would agree that Tamba Hali is one of the best pass rushers in the league and from what im hearing about Training Camp. the "Best battles" are coming from Albert and Hali. Thats a good sign to me. But either way, I would like to see both Gaither and Albert on the field this year in the starting lineup.

If we had Gaithier at LT and Albert at LG, we couldn't be stopped running the ball. I think Albert is a good LT and still getting better, but he would be a Pro Bowler easy at guard.
