Chiefs respond to Joplin tornado with donation, relief effort
Posted by Mike Florio on May 23, 2011, 9:20 PM EDT
APTOPIX Midwest Storms AP

On Sunday, a devastating tornado tore through Joplin, Missouri, cutting the city in half and killing more than 100.

The Chiefs quickly have responded, with a donation of $35,000 and the organization of a bottled-water drive at Arrowhead Stadium.

Cases of bottled water, cash, and/or checks made payable to Heart-to-Heart International will be accepted in Lot C on the east side of Arrowhead Stadium Tuesday from noon until 7:00 p.m. CT and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT.

Like a caller on 610 just said L. Hunt would have sent a lot more than 35k. He should have sent all the money that he saved from cutting coaches pay to the relief. that prob would be well into the 100's of thousands.

I'm glad some caller to 610 was able to validate Clark's cheapness for you.

Hard telling what Lamar would have done during a lockout.

Seems like to me though that Clark has opened up the checkbook more than Lamar had to, in about every other way besides player salary. Even then, it will get there within the next few years. I'll love to hear how cheap he is after we have to pay our own players, and at that same time will be about when we open up the check book more to put us over the top.

Colts get involved in tornado relief efforts, too
Posted by Mike Florio on May 24, 2011, 10:34 AM EDT
Firefighters and residents rummage through debris after a devastating tornado hit Joplin Reuters

Last night, we pointed out that the Chiefs have organized relief efforts for the folks affected by the devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri on Sunday. The Colts have gotten involved, too.

From 2:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, the Colts will conduct a drive-through effort to collect water, diapers, and donations at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center in Indianapolis. Items accepted include cases of bottled water, packages of new, unused disposable diapers, and cash or checks made payable to the Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis.

Colts owner Jim Irsay will donate 15,000 bottles of water. The first 250 donors will receive a limited edition Colts football bearing the “laser signature” of Jim Caldwell.

The owner of Lucas Oil Products, which has the naming rights on the stadium in which the Colts play, will donate an 18-wheeler for transportation of the goods to Joplin.

Hard to tell what lamar would have done during a lockout? that is plain stupid. The Hunts main money isnt from football. this is chump change compared to the Hunts other business ventures. Lamars donation to victims would have been in the hundreds of thousands if not on the plus side of a mil. 35k isnt even pocket change for Hunt.

Now that is a real donation. these 2 ladies arent worth 1/10 of what Clark is worth yet they give 2 mil. granted it's to a stupid cause. we should let japan go to hell. the point is they werent cheap cunts like C. H. looking for a little good PR while fucking over their fans.

I'll be laughing when Eric Berry leaves becaus he is the best safety in football and Clark Hunt refuses to make any player of his the highest paid player at his position. They will only sign guys they can get at a cheap bargain. So Berry will only be playing out his 1st contract here, that is a given. They might even give Jackson an extension after he gets his 6 or 7 tackles this year.

I think you will be holding in your laughter for awhile. Unless Berry becomes and alcoholic with multiple DUI's or a criminal, Pioli isn't letting him get away.

How much should Clark Hunt be required to donate to Sedalia now that they've had a tornado? What about the deaths in Kansas that happened today? I'm sure they have a price tag for you. Uh oh, some damage in Harrisonville and Blue Springs as well!

Nobody has to give anything. You can be cheap all you want. This little donation he gave was all a pr move is all I'm saying. I wasnt the one that started a thread about Clark opening up his pocket book. He just pulled a little out of his cupholder in his car is all he did. Blue Springs didnt get shit either. Was just there. The Super cell just passed over Blue Springs/Grain Valley/ Oak Grove just under 2 hours ago and didnt do shit.

Clark has only been on the job a few months and he's already dropped some serious coin on renovations, donations, top notch GM, front office workers, and coaches among other things.

I'm curious how much of it even was Clark though. He has someone run his money for him.. I can't think of the team Presidents name. I mean I'm sure it was ran by Clark, but the number might not of even been his idea.
